SEGI is a full-spectrum thin film products and
services company
We offer:
All-new
batch deposition systems based upon the Perkin-Elmer configuration

Perhaps the best choice for your needs is an all-new sputter system from
SEGI. The overall configuration and architecture of the SEGI system is
essentially identical to the older Perkin-Elmer design. However, that is
where the similarity ends.
This is a completely new system from the ground up. Even the frame is new. We add many significant upgrades, using only high quality
off-the-shelf components, such as:
- Gas flow and pressure
controls
- Vacuum gauging
- Modern dc and rf power
supplies
- High reliability rotary
motion seals using ferrofluid technology
- All bellows-sealed valves
- Properly sized and
configured pumps
- Modern PLC-based
automation hardware
- New pallet transfer
system
The crown jewel of this new system is our high reliability PLC-based
control software and hardware with a user-friendly GUI (graphical user
interface) for ease of operation.
If a batch sputtering system will do your job, this system may be the
one!
Deposition
system re-manufacturing
For many thin-film processing requirements, the most cost-effective
selection is often a quality re-manufactured system.
Historically, SEGI has specialized in re-manufacturing sputter deposition
systems originally manufactured by the Perkin-Elmer Corporation. Over the
years, we have expanded our capabilities to include the systems of a number
of other manufacturers.
But, just what is a "re-manufactured system?"
First, we strip the target system down to its component parts. Everything
is inspected and the parts we are going to retain are brought fully up to
their original standards or better.
Not everything, though, goes back on the system. Using the Perkin-Elmer
systems as an example, we discard all the BTA (back to air) valves and
replace them with modern bellows-sealed valves. All parts subject to
operational wear and tear, such as bearings, drive components and
"finger stock" contacts are scrapped and replaced with new parts.
Where possible, custom (and obsolete!) Perkin-Elmer parts are replaced with
modern off-the-shelf components. The Perkin-Elmer gauge control unit is
scrapped and replaced with a new Granville-Phillips Vacuum Gauge Controller.
Where possible, other controllers, not manufactured by Perkin-Elmer, are
refurbished by their original manufacturer.
What do you receive? Quality, Reliability and Improved Functionality!
Replacement
parts for many older deposition systems
Perhaps you have a stable of old workhorses that are doing the job for you,
but maintenance is becoming a problem... nobody has the parts!
Try SEGI! We may have what you need. We are always on the lookout for
quality replacement parts for the older generation systems still profitably
in use at many of our customers' sites. If we don't have it, we may be able
to find it for you. If we can't find it, we may be able to make it
for you. Give SEGI a call!
Field
service for most deposition systems
It's 2:00 AM and the system is down. Nobody can figure out what to do, and
production is hurting.
Call SEGI!
We specialize in emergency service and repair on-site.
It's not 2:00 AM, but the handwriting is on the wall: "Old
reliable" needs some attention before it becomes "Old
clunky!" SEGI can provide whatever level of service and support you
may need, from routine maintenance through major rebuilds.
Extended
service contracts with guaranteed "up-time"
Perhaps you would like someone to take full responsibility for
keeping your systems up and running.
Call SEGI! We can do that!
Training
for your service personnel
SEGI offers expert practical training for your service
personnel, tailored to your specific needs. From the new-hire with little
experience to the seasoned veteran without specific experience with
your process tools, SEGI can offer competent training either at your site
using your equipment or at our site using ours.
Customized
PLC-based automation for older deposition systems
Often, all that is required to bring your production line up to speed is a
touch of modern computer control technology. The stainless steel is just
fine, but the control software is an un-maintainable nightmare of
"spaghetti code!"
SEGI can help! We can adapt the very same control software and hardware
that we use in our new batch sputter deposition systems to your processing
tool. There are many possible levels of automation. Give SEGI a call to
find out which one may be right for you.
Process
Support for many PVD and "chemical" processes
Like many equipment manufacturers and support organizations, SEGI has spent
much of its history focused on the tools. The reality, of course, is that
the only reason someone would buy the tool is to perform a process and
generate a product.
So, we have expanded our focus: Are you a SEGI customer with a process
problem? If so, it isn't just your problem, it is our
problem, too! We want you to be a success with your SEGI processing tools.
SEGI offers these services through our network of consulting resources, and
other third-party entities such as analytical services laboratories. If we
can't help directly, perhaps we can connect you with someone who can!
